Gold medallist Olympian charged with drink driving, gun

OLYMPIC shooter Michael Diamond has been charged with high-range drink- driving and carrying a shotgun in his car.

The 44-year-old was arrested following a domestic disturbance near Newcastle with his brother.

Mr Diamond allegedly refused a roadside breath test but returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.159 - more than three times the legal limit - when escorted to a police station.

Police alleged he had 150 rounds of ammunition in his car. The six-time Olympian won gold for Australia at the 1996 and 2000 Games.
