Golden girl sparks medal harvest

A GOLDEN double to rising sprint sensation Mariah Jones last weekend set the scene for Twin Towns Waterdragons’ most memorable NSW Country Swimming Championships to date.

Flying across the water, the human hovercraft left the remainder of the pool in her wake as she wrapped up the open age 50m and 100m freestyle crowns in commanding fashion.

In total, nine of Andrew Hunter’s proteges took the plunge in Sydney, recording 20 top-10 finishes and returning to Banora with three gold medals and five silvers draped around their necks.
