Golf day for medical clinic

PICK up a golf club and join John Flynn Hospital nurse Sally Williams on a mission of good will.

The nurse has committed to helping establish the Pipisu (medical) Clinic in Solomon Islands’ island of Malaita.

To help raise funds, Ms Williams has organised a charity golf day at the Coolangatta Tweed Heads Golf Club, on March 6.

“There will be a nurses barbecue, the competition is a nine-hole Ambrose and there will be entertainment from comedian Sandy Gandhi and MC Samba Blissta Paul Barrett in the golfers’ lounge afterwards,” Ms Williams said.

Ms Williams has formed a partnership with the Solomon Island Ministry of Health, Adventist Development and Relief Agency, the community’s member for parliament and Pipisu community leader and land owner to help establish the clinic, due to be completed in the next 12 months.

“Hospital CEO Greg Jenke has committed to match up to $5000 in funds raised annually to contribute to the building and running of the clinic,” she said.

To complete the clinic, it needs $30,000 and Ms Williams has raised $10,000 with the help of John Flynn Hospital and other donations since September.

For more information or to make a donation phone Sally Williams on 0423 018 496.
