Governor of Queensland opens new SCU building

THE Governor of Queensland Penelope Wensley opened the newest building at the Southern Cross University (SCU) campus yesterday.

"I am delighted to see it for myself," the Governor said.

"The speed this has happened is quite remarkable."

She said a demand for quality education suited to contemporary needs could only continue to grow and the university was "exceptionally well positioned" to meet the challenge.

The $50 million, ten story building has a total floor area of 15,417sqm comprising of a cutting edge interior and clinical laboratories for nursing and midwifery, physiology, anatomy and biomechanics.

There are laboratories for pedorthics, podiatry and speech pathology.

There are also rooms for law, education, business, arts and social sciences and tourism.

SCU has opened a health clinic to the general public in the new building.
