Grandmother takes out third win

CHINDERAH grandmother Margaret McCrindle has hit the jackpot for the third time at her lucky club.

The 81-year-old won $10,000 on a 20-cent poker machine at the Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club on Friday afternoon.

It brings her total winnings at her favourite club to more than $20,000 over four years.

She won $6400 on the pokies two years ago and $4000 two years before that.

“I’ve just got back from a holiday in Tasmania but I may be able to take another one now thanks to this,” Mrs McCrindle said.

“I’ve actually got a family wedding in Scotland to get to next year, so the money came at a good time for me.

“They say lightning never strikes twice, but it’s happened to me three times now.”

Mrs McCrindle said she always played the same type of machine.

“I only ever use the 20 cent pokies. I don’t play it big,” she said.

“I’m a pensioner and it’s all I can afford.”

General manager Phil Kelly said he was pleased to see Mrs McCrindle take home the win.

“It’s amazing this is her third big win,” Mr Kelly said.

“This doesn’t happen here often at all.

“She must be thrilled.”
