Grantham hit hard by storm

Grantham has copped the brunt of a large storm cell that ripped through the Lockyer Valley yesterday afternoon.

Strong wind gusts ripped through Grantham at about 3.30-4pm knocking trees down and snapping branches from others.

The storm hit Marnell Fuels with such force that a part of the building's roof was ripped clean off.

The wind blew through the doors to the back of the building before blowing out the front and throwing debris across the road.

A tree was also blown across powerlines along Gatton-Helidon Rd with the road currently closed between Gatton and Grantham with detours between Wells Rd and Gatton-Clifton Rd in place.
