Grass fire sends smoke over Chinderah

MOTORISTS were alarmed by a grass fire near the Pacific Hwy at Chinderah this afternoon.

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesman said emergency services were called to the scene, near the southbound Pacific Hwy on ramp, about 2.45pm.

“There were quite a few Triple Zero calls,” he said.

When crews arrived, a small area of grass was alight, but it was quickly controlled.

It’s unclear how the blaze started.
