Great job by the tweed's rep sides

THE Tweed Border Hockey under-15 girls' and boys' representative sides played in the Queensland State Championship last week.

Congratulations to Gabbie Nance for being selected as captain of the Queensland girls' side, and to Allie Farrell and Savanah Fitzpatrick who are shadow players. We couldn't obtain all the girls' results, but well done.

The boys finished 10th overall, but played some tough hockey. They lost to Townsville 3-1, Cairns 1-0, Maryborough 3-0, Ipswich 5-1, and Toowoomba 3-1, but drew 1-1 with Mackay and beat Brisbane 4-0 and Gympie 5-0.

THERE is a goalkeeper training camp during the school holidays on July 20-21 from 9am-12pm at the turf in Murwillumbah, and it is open to all junior keepers and kids who would like to give keeping a go.

There is no cost, so if you are interested email tweedrcd@norex.com.au or ring Matt on 02 6672 3434.

TWEED Border Hockey invites local under-11 boys' club teams to a carnival day on Sunday, August 16 at the Barrie Smith Hockey Fields.

There is no cost for teams, but each team must have an umpire. The draw will be emailed to the nominated contact person/s one week before the carnival.

It will be played in a round-robin format and although scores will be kept and first passed the post declared the winner, there will be no finals or presentation.

Confirm entry by July 30 to tweedrcd@norex.com.au.
