Greenback fish comp casts off

FRIENDLY fun is expected this weekend as more than 800 people prepare to cast off for the Lions Greenback Fishing Competition at Cabarita.

The community is encouraged to enter with Cabarita/Pottsville Lions Club coordinator John Harden saying it's going to be a great weekend.

"The competition is open to a wide variety of age groups, so it's a good opportunity for everyone to get involved."

There are over 40 prizes up for grabs including a boat but with the lucky winner will take home $2000 in cash and prizes.

The competition wraps up on Sunday at 10am with all fish to be handed back for weighing.

Prizes and awards will be handed out shortly after, followed by a fish auction which will see all proceeds go to the Lions Club.

Entry is $30 for adults and $15 for juniors 16 years and younger.

The competition runs from 9am-6pm this Saturday and anyone interested can go to the beach opposite Cabarita Beach Hotel.

Contact Vick Hansen for more on 02 6676 2727 or 0411 165 506.
