Greens policy claims to increase bulk-billing rates
MORE than $660 million would be returned to the Medicare budget under a Greens election policy to increase bulk-billing rates.
The Greens Queensland Senate candidate Dr Sandra Bayley released details of the policy on Wednesday.
It would reverse a Labor Government decision to delay the indexation of Medicare, which has saved the government millions in bulk-billing rates.
Dr Bayley said doctors and patients needed to be able to rely on Medicare funding to ensure bulk billing could be offered to help reduce bills.
However, The Greens did not release any details of how the policy would be paid for if the minor party was able to enact it in the next parliament.
