Greens to host Tweed community welfare forum

A FREE community welfare forum will be hosted in the Tweed by the Greens this month.

The event will be hosted by Senator Rachel Siewert and will be a chance for locals to discuss the range of social and economic issues impacting people across the Tweed Shire.

One of the big issues on the agenda will be cuts to single parent payments, disability support services, housing stress and the Newstart allowance.

There will also feature speakers from local community service organisations and NGOs working in the community sector.

"With rents and cost of living going up, many residents across the Tweed Shire are telling me that they are struggling to make ends meet," Richmond candidate for the Greens Dawn Fraser said.

The Community Welfare Forum will be held from 6 - 7:30pm on Monday July 22, at Banora Point Community Centre.

Supper will be provided and children are welcome.
