Quinn has a glimmer of hope

A GLIMMER of hope has appeared for Coffs Coast Rally Team driver Nathan Quinn, who prior to the weekend, seemed certain to miss driving in the Asia Pacific Rally Championship in China.

Co-driver David Green fell ill and a worldwide search for a replacement was launched by team manager, Quinn's father, Martin.

"Rather than staying in Australia, we decided to continue the search from the rally site and arrived in China on Sunday," Quinn snr said.

"We have taken possession of the car and will test a possible Japanese replacement driver today."

However, even better news may be about to lift the spirits of the CCRT venture.

The condition of David Green has improved and he is looking for a flight to take him to the People's Republic in time to fill the co-driver's seat by Friday.

"We have fingers crossed that Greeny makes it on time," Martin Quinn said.

"I'm sitting here with the wife like a couple of film directors watching Nathan work on the car and after a near disaster, something good may come out of this.

"We are not there yet but it's really starting to look so much better."
