Groceries online saves you time
I LOVE shopping as long as it doesn't involve groceries.
There are a million things I'd rather do than trudge up and down supermarket aisles in search of life's necessities.
However, time on one day a week is dedicated to replenishing my household pantry and fridge.
This requires spending a couple of hours visiting a few different places – the supermarket, local markets, butcher and discount store. It's time consuming, but it does save money.
This week though I decided to try something different and shop online.
Grocery shopping child-free, without driving, carrying shopping bags or walking around in search of the cheapest items; it seemed far too good to be true.
Excited about this new concept, I logged on to www.coles.com.au.
At first, I was annoyed that I couldn't instantly begin shopping.
The site requires you to register and create your own personal account then you are free to browse the different “aisles” and add items to your virtual trolley.
A delivery time needs to be reserved. You can arrange for your order to be delivered up until 9pm.
Payment was made via credit card, but there was a $50 minimum spend. My grocery shop for the week was done in 25 minutes and the next day, my order was delivered hassle-free.
Online shopping was highly convenient but is a service I would only use again if I found myself desperately strapped for time.
