Police confirm two bodies found at Pottsville

UPDATED 1.30pm: TWO bodies have been found in the search for a Pottsville father and daughter, police have confirmed.

About 8.30am today, police began a search for Greg Hutchings,35, and daughter Eeva Dorendahl-Hutchings, 4, comprising of officers from Tweed Byron Local Area Command and the State Emergency Service.

Just before 10am, two bodies were located by an SES volunteer in dense bushland at the Pottsville sand hills.

A crime scene has been established and forensic investigators are at the location.

The bodies are yet to be formally identified and police are unable to speculate whether they are that of the missing man and his daughter.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner. 

 

UPDATE 1.15pm:  POLICE have announced a press conference for 2pm this afternoon.

It's understood police had marked off an area of sand dunes with crime tape this morning, but that tape has since been taken down.

 

UPDATED, 12.45pm: THERE has been a major development in the search for a Pottsville man and his four-year-old daughter.

A police press conference scheduled for 9.30am this morning has been delayed to a yet to be announced time as a result of the development.

There have been yet to be confirmed media reports of a crime scene established on a local beach.

The pair have been missing since January 11.

Initial report, 10.17am: THE search for a father and his young daughter who went missing from Pottsville 17 days ago will resume today.

Police will be searching around the Pottsville area as they continue to investigate the disappearances of Greg Hutchings, 35, and his four-year-old daughter Eeva Dorendahl-Hutchings.

They were last seen on Pottsville Rd about 12.30pm on Saturday, January 11, and were due to meet with family but never arrived.

Police say they hold grave concerns for the welfare of the missing pair, as no sightings have been confirmed and Mr Hutchings has not touched his bank account since the disappearance.

NSW Police formed Strike Force Beadle to investigate.

Today the Strike Force and the State Emergency Service will search north of Mooball Creek, along sand dunes near the beach and north of the Pottsville township along sand dunes towards Hastings Point.

Mr Hutchings was known to frequent the areas.
