Group nominations open to public
TWEED residents can do more for their community than just vote for their preferred candidate at the council elections.
Tweed Shire Council is looking for nominations to join advisory groups for the next four-year term beginning in November.
The latest committee seeking nominations from the community is the Australia Day Committee, which was previously a closed committee.
The expression of interest process will close on Friday 21 September 2012.
According to a report to the council today, this timeframe will allow newly elected councillors to consider community representation on these committees, early in its term and enable the committees to move forward with their objectives and functions.
The committees open to nomination from the public are:
- Aboriginal Advisory
- Audit
- Australia Day
- Banora Point Community Centre
- Community Cultural Development
- Equal Access Advisory
- Flood Plain Management
- Sports Advisory
- Tweed Coastal
- Tweed River
- Tweed River Regional Art Gallery Advisory
- Tweed River Regional Museum Advisory
