TWEED school buses could soon have security personnel riding with students.
A Transit Australia Group, operator of Surfside Buslines, spokeswoman said the company was reviewing the bus services in the Tweed.
"We are putting security on school buses in problem areas," the spokeswoman said.
"There is no security on our NSW buses but we are currently reviewing where security is needed.
"After the review it may include some Tweed schools."
The company said in a statement that the use of security personnel in school buses was to curb "unruly behavior" on some school bus routes.
TAG Gold Coast operations manager Les Manson said the increased security presence is a temporary measure.
"It's an effort to remind students that unruly behavior on school bus runs is highly dangerous and will be taken seriously by the company," Mr Manson said.
"Orderly behavior on school bus services is essential to ensure the safety of the students, the driver and other road users."
Transit Australia Group have highlighted that this is a whole of community issue which needs to be addressed not just by bus operators but also by parents, students, schools and Government.
