
Solid As wins at Border Park
THE day got off to a flyer at Border Park Raceway on Saturday when the Gary Wyborn-trained Solid As won the first heat of the 420m Maiden in a good time of 23.97 seconds.
The gung-ho greyhound beat home First In Line with That’s That for the honours.
In heat two it was Lethal Zeus for club stalwart Jamie Canavan crossing first, edging out Sangre Africana and Armfield Trick. The Border Stakes 520m went unsurprisingly to the rocket that is Spiritual Gift who got the better of Ride The Wave and Lyndan Red Ride in a time of 29.50.
Spiritual, trained by Keith Boan, was the jackpot greyhound and picked up an extra $130.
There were several impressive performances across the five heats of the fifth grade 420m but none better than Bev Debono’s Barshy in the second, scorching the track in 23.50 to take the win from Thournton Addis and Kay Nine.
Heat one went to Sudoku Prince ahead of Bonnie Pearl Bay and My Generator, heat three to Senorita Trick over Not Today Son and Scarlet Bay, the fourth to Furious Rage who beat Lost In France and Psychic Solution, and the last to Affirmative who flew home ahead of Caitlin Jade and Phoenix Bomber.
The third and fourth grade 420m was taken out by Suzie Be Good over Ivory Spy and Kee, while in the fifth grade final, Rocklynn’s Angel won from Hippy Free Love and Natisse’s Angel.
