Gym right for festive season
FITNESS clubs in the Tweed and Gold Coast area are reporting a rise in memberships this holiday season with residents determined to keep off the kilos this festive season.
Group centre manager of the Revolutions fitness chain at Seagulls, Carly Busseler, has seen significantly increased memberships just in time for the holiday season.
"I think everyone's trying to get fit for summer," she said.
A Gold Coast Parks initiative by Gold Coast City Council reinforces the values of healthy exercise with exercise sessions held weekly in parks all over the Gold Coast.
Group fitness training sessions are held every Monday at 8am at Queen Elizabeth park, Coolangatta.
Accredited dietician associated with the program, Amanda Clark, said she would like to see healthy habits embraced this season.
"Just be conscious and discerning of what you are eating," she said.
"Maybe invest in some active gifts that contribute to a healthy lifestyle, such as a juicer, non-stick fry pan or exercise equipment."
