Harsh ciritcism for dancing surfer
SURFING star Mark “Occy” Occhilupo made his Dancing With The Stars debut on Sunday night and was awarded with a less-than-perfect score from the judges.
Mr Occhilupo took to the floor for the first time to dance the cha-cha with dance partner Jade Brand.
When the performance was over judge Todd McKenney awarded the performance a score of one and delivered some harsh criticism.
“It was the worst routine we've had on any season,” Mr McKenney told the former surfing champion.
“It was truly awful.”
Before he strapped on his dancing shoes Mr Occhilupo admitted he was nervous about his performance.
“You have rhythm through surfing and when I just boogie on the dance floor I feel like I've got rhythm,” Mr Occhilupo said.
“But I'm just worried about remembering the moves.”
Fans have until next week's Dancing With The Stars episode to see if Mr Occhilupo will make it through to the next round.
Mr Occhilupo has chosen to dance for Surf- Aid International, a non-profit organis- ation working to improve the health, wellbeing and self-reliance of people living in isolated communities in Indonesia.
