WHEN it comes to spring cleaning, professional cleaner Angela Brown heads straight to the places people forget as her first port of call.

"It's the everyday things that get touched everyday," said Ms Brown, the owner of Angie's Domestic Duties.

"When you've done that, the whole smell (of the house) just changes."

Ms Brown said the first items on the spring cleaning list to tackle included the tops of fridges and lampshades.

"These things are always harder," she said.

"Ceilings are the worst because if you don't do them right, they might get ruined.

"People need to be careful."

Ms Brown said when spring cleaning for clients, her workload didn't just include cleaning the actual window - she had to clean the window frame and dust the window tracks.

"Again, it's the things that you don't do in your everyday clean that you need to do when you spring clean," she said.

Ms Brown also said spring time was a great time to go through wardrobes and sort out clothing.

"The rule I go by is if you haven't worn it in six months, get rid of it," she said.

She recommended buying big striped bags in different colours to separate out all the clothes out into.

"I've just done my wardrobe and separated all my clothes into bags for ones I don't want to keep, ones I want to donate, just that sort of thing."

Ms Brown said it was also a fantastic time to see which garments had stains or holes.
