Hear this, I've got the voice!

TELEVISION phenomenon The Voice is inspiring a wave of wannabes across the Tweed coast.

Revolution Music owner Mark Richter said every time a vocal reality show aired, a new wave of young people called wanting singing lessons.

"If it's a young guy with a guitar on the show I get a heap of young guys who already play guitar wanting to learn how to sing as well," Mr Richter said.

The televised singing competition features an initial round of blind auditions where the judges, Delta Goodrem, Seal, Joel Madden and Keith Urban, face away from the stage and can not see the person singing.

According to Mr Richter, the concept is inspiring a new wave of kids who would never have pursued music before, fearing they would be judged on their appearance.

And although the thought of your child picking up a set of drumsticks and permanently ruining your relationship with your neighbours might make you cringe, there are definite perks in encouraging your child to pursue music.

"At least if they're making a racket in the garage you know where they are," he said.

Watch it at 7.30pm on Monday on Channel 9.
