Heavy rain causing dams to be filled to capacity

IT IS hard to believe there was ever a water crisis in south-east Queensland, with 13 dams in the region currently at capacity.

As more rain falls in the area, neither Wivenhoe, Somerset or North Pines dams are expected to be forced to release some of their water.

Somerset and Wivenhoe are flood mitigation dams with capacity kept in reserve.

Meanwhile, 15 dams in the region, including Baroon Pocket and Wappa, were currently spilling due to the heavy rain.
