Body found during search for missing woman at Byron Bay

UPDATE 11.45am: TWEED-Byron police have confirmed they have located a body, believed to be that of missing Canadian woman Natalie Perkins, in the Byron Bay area this morning.

The body was located in bushland near the Butler St Reserve.

36-year-old Natalie Perkins went missing exactly two weeks ago on February 15.

The circumstances surrounding the death are unknown at this stage, although the police said they do not believe the death is suspicious.

 

UPDATE 10.30am: TWEED/Byron Police and the SES are on scene in Byron Bay preparing to undertake a ground search for missing Canadian woman Natalie Perkins.  

Canadian national Natalie Perkins has been missing since Monday February 15. She was last seen in Byron Bay leaving an appointment at about 4.15pm. Police have urged anyone who has seen her since to call Byron Bay police or Crimestoppers.

INITIAL: THE Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter has been tasked for an aerial search over Byron Bay for missing Canadian woman Natalie Perkins.

While the helicopter conducts an aerial search, Tweed/Byron police and SES will be carrying out a ground search in Byron Bay.

Inspector Greg Jago said the search was the result of information received by police, and is one of a number of avenues of enquiry into the whereabouts of the missing woman.
