Helping kids join in nostalgia festival fun
KIDS in need will live it up when they’re given a spin in a group of tiny goggomobils during Cooly Rocks next month.
Goggomobil “nutter” Howard Knox, who has owned the pocket rocket cars for several decades, looked forward to taking more than 150 children, from charity TLC for Kids and Mudgeeraba Special School, for a spin.
“How could you not enjoy bringing a smile to sick children’s faces?” he said.
“They really do a fantastic job and it just makes you feel so humbled to see what they do. The best way to put a smile on their face is to give them some fun.”
Mudgeeraba Special School P&C vice president Maurie Rowe said it meant the world to see the goggomobil enthusiasts share their joy with the children.
“It will be a great day out for them,” Mr Rowe said.
“Many of these kids have low social skills. Coming down here for a ride will really make their day.”
Julianne Scott from TLC for Kids Gold Coast said many of the children they’d be bringing along would have been in hospital for a long time.
“We’re going to be inviting lots of sick local children from Gold Coast University Hospital and Tweed Hospital,” she said.
“We look forward to putting smiles on their faces.”
