Highway upgrade contract announced

A NOTORIOUS stretch of the Pacific Hwy on the New South Wales north coast is one step closer to getting a much needed makeover.

Federal Infrastructure Minister Anthony Albanese announced on Tuesday design contracts for the Woolgoolga to Glenugie upgrade had been awarded to engineering consultants Parsons Brinckerhoff and ARUP.

The upgrade will include the duplication of 31km of the highway north of Coffs Harbour.

By the end of 2016 the section of highway will also boast a new interchange at Range Rd, bridges across Corindi Creek and surrounding flood plains and overpasses at Sherwood Creek and Kangaroo Trail Rds.
