Hit and run at Brunswick Heads

POLICE are appealing for public assistance to find a white ute after it failed to stop after running into a pedestrian in Brunswick Heads on Friday.

A 23-year-old man was taken to the Gold Coast Hospital to receive treatment for serious head injuries, and remains in a serious condition, according to police reports.

The man was walking with two others just before midday on Friday in a westerly direction along the northern shoulder of the Old Pacific Highway near the intersection with Newberry Parade.

After the 23-year-old walked into the middle of the road, he was struck by an eastbound utility.

After the collision, the utility did not stop and drove off at high speed towards Brunswick Heads.

Police from the Far North Coast Crash Investigation Unit are making inquiries into the collision.

They are looking for a white single cab utility, possibly an early '90s model, with lowered suspension, a ladder rack at the rear of the tray, and likely to have damage to the driver's side front lights and grill.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
