Hit and run driver still at large

POLICE are still searching for the driver responsible for a hit and run in Mullumbimby that killed a 60-year-old cyclist on Tuesday.

About 10am, police were called to Coolamon Scenic Drive, Mullumbimby, after reports a cycle had been hit by a car.

A passing Surf Life Saver had stopped at the scene and given first aid to the man who had sustained serious head injuries.

He was taken to Mullumbimby Hospital where he died.

Police from Ballina Crash Investigation Unit are still trying to identify and locate the driver, who failed to stop.
