Holden adds new Cruze Sportwagon to line-up

Holden's new Cruze Sportwagon will soon reach showrooms.

HOLDEN will complete its Cruze range before Christmas with the new Sportwagon.

Officially launched today, the Holden Cruze Sportwagon will start arriving in showrooms over the coming weeks.

The latest sibling in the Cruze family joins the locally-built Hatch and Sedan.

Cruze Sportwagon will be available in two models, CD with the choice of two engines, a 1.8-litre petrol engine or a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel, or the premium CDX with a 1.8-litre petrol engine - all with automatic transmissions.

Standard features include Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition, cruise control and iPod integration with steering wheel controls.

The Cruze Sportwagon offers the same safety features and body structure that earned the Cruze sedan and hatch a five star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).

Safety features include six airbags, rear park assist and electronic stability control including anti-lock braking system and traction control.

Philip Brook, Holden's executive director of sales and marketing, said the imported model is a fantastic opportunity to reach new customers.

"The beauty of the Cruze Sportwagon is that it offers all the style and high-tech features of the popular Hatch and Sedan, but also offers an added level of versatility for those customers looking for the practicality of a wagon," he said.

"The Cruze has been an instant Aussie favourite since going on sale and the Sportwagon complements the range perfectly.

"This nameplate has sold in excess of one and a half million vehicles globally since it was launched in 2009 and there's a very simple reason for this - it's a fantastic car.

"We're really excited about competing in the small wagon segment again. Cruze Sportwagon is a compelling offer so I'm pleased once again to offer a great car for these buyers.

"This wagon is the perfect addition to the Cruze range and like the Commodore Sportwagon before it; it will put excitement back into this traditionally conservative segment."

Cruze Sportwagon recommended retail pricing:
CD 1.8 litre petrol auto $25,790
CD 2.0 litre diesel auto $29,790
CDX 1.8 litre petrol auto $29,040
