Hole in one for child protection
THE Tweed's business and golfing community will come out in force next week to mark the 20th anniversary of White Balloon Day, established by leading child protection group Bravehearts.
BMG Property Group was one of the first organisations to put its hands up to participate in the event, hosting a charity golf day at Coolangatta Tweed Heads Golf Club next Friday, September 9.
The event will be held during Child Protection Week (September 4-10), with an 18-hole, four person challenge, with prizes awarded for first to fifth placings and auction items up for grabs.
Bravehearts founder Hetty Johnston said communities across Australia were signing up for the challenge and working together to help the organisation prevent a crime which affects more than 60,000 children every year.
"I cannot be more proud of Bravehearts and its incredible array of supporters, all coming together to take on Australia's biggest child protection challenge,” Ms Johnston said.
"Protecting kids is everyone's business and by stepping up and taking the challenge, everyone can play a role.”
Supported by Gold Coast identity Natalie Gruzlewski, the charity golf day is designed to raise funds and awareness to make communities safer for children.
