Holiday park taking bookings

THE Kingscliff Beach Holiday Park is open for business following closures caused by erosion.

In a statement released by Tweed Shire Council it was confirmed one cabin and three onsite vans were available for bookings.

"Two villas have been relocated to the Kingscliff North Holiday Park, and will be available for bookings from mid November," the statement read.

"Five cabins relocated due to the erosion have been sold through a public tender process and were removed from the park last week.

The decision was made to sell the cabins as the park is scheduled to be redeveloped in 2013 and it is not viable to install them on different sites within the park."

Part of the temporary fence on the beach side of the park will soon be removed and replaced with a more attractive permanent fence.

"The Tweed Coast Holiday Park Reserve Trust manages the ongoing operation of seven holiday parks located on Crown land ... on behalf of the NSW Government," it read.

"Income from these businesses goes to the long-term upgrading of the holiday parks as well as the ongoing management and improvement of adjoining and nearby public reserve Crown lands in the Tweed."

Surf life saving clubs and services are facing ongoing threats from climate change and extreme weather events according to a new report released by Surf Life Saving Australia.

The report recommended clubs build capacity to respond to the impacts of climate change by raising awareness, enhancing partnerships and mainstreaming climate change adaptation.
