Home invaders trample baby

POLICE allege Robert Murray stood on a baby's head as he made his way to smash a bottle on a man's head during a violent home attack in Rockhampton on Saturday night.

The Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday heard the baby suffered bruising to the head as a result of being stood on.

Authorities said the attack victim required stitches to the gash on his forehead.

Police said Murray was one of seven people involved in the attack on the Alma St unit about 9pm.

Murray and two other men - Leonard Daisey and Prince Oakley - appeared in Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday.

All three were charged with breaking and entering while Murray was also charged with two counts of assault.

The alleged incident was sparked after an altercation the night before.

The accused were looking for two men in relation to the earlier altercation, the court heard.

However, police prosecutor Karen Dunham said the victims of the raid were not involved in the incident that took place the night before.

Ms Dunham said the three accused kicked down the unit door.

The court heard that the three men had been drinking alcohol before the incident took place.

Magistrate Annette Hennessey denied bail to all three.

Four other people allegedly involved in the home invasion were charged with break and entering and assault.
