Hotel ban for ninja after slap

A PARTYGOER has been banned from a bar after he slapped another patron while dressed as a ninja.

At Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday, Juane Mauri Ora Houston pleaded guilty to creating a public nuisance.

The 30-year-old had attended the Spring Lake Hotel on September 13, dressed in a ninja costume

During the evening, Houston slapped a patron in the back of the head, which kicked off a small scuffle.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Kerry Allison said security staff became involved in the tussle.

Police were called to the scene at about 10.15pm. The incident was captured on CCTV footage.

It is believed Houston had been attending a fancy dress party that night.

Mr Houston said he had no excuses for his behaviour.

He was fined $150 and banned from attending the Spring Lake Hotel for six months.

Magistrate Barry Cosgrove said the banning order would act as a reminder that Houston could not go to his local drinking hole because he misbehaved there.

No convictions were recorded.
