Home at Landsborough narrowly saved from fire destruction
UPDATE 7:30PM: A Landsborough home has been narrowly saved from destruction after a blaze started while a man was working on his car.
Beerwah auxiliary fire brigade officer Captain Luke Chapman said crews arrived at the two-storey Queenslander on Old Gympie Rd to find a number of vehicles underneath well involved in flames.
The alarm was raised about 4.45pm.
"The fire was breaching into the second storey of the building," Captain Chapman said.
The property owner tried to fight the fire with a hose until crews arrived.
He was uninjured.
Captain Chapman said fire damage had been contained to a verandah area.
If the blaze had burned for a few more minutes he believed crews would have faced a vastly different situation.
No one else was at the home at the time.
EARLIER: Firefighters are on scene of a house fire at Old Gympie Rd, Beerwah.
