Human remains found on property

HUMAN remains have been found on a property in far north Queensland.

The remains were found on January 31 at Hope Vale, near Cooktown.

Search crews were called to a property on Beach Rd today, after a 77-year-old man had been reported missing in December.

The search uncovered partial human remains and a crime scene was declared at 9.10am.

The cause of death is unknown, however not believed to be suspicious.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner pending further forensic examination of the remains.

Investigations are continuing.
