Hundreds flocked to Bleach Festival on opening weekend

BLEACH Festival opened on Friday night to packed crowds despite a light drizzle of rain.

Festival organiser Louise Bezzina said patronage had increased at least two-fold compared to last year.

"On Friday we opened with acrobatics performance Splash and a concert at Soundlounge.

"Last night the busiest peak saw 700 people converge on Coolangatta Beach for the free open air flicks."

Bleach runs until March 23 and coincides with the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro, which runs until Wednesday.

"Exhibitions at places like Cafe D'Bar will continue until Thursday night, when big outdoor events will ramp up again," Ms Bezzina said.
