Hunt for man who punched woman, 75

GOLD Coast police are still looking for a man who assaulted a 75-year-old woman during a hold-up at Tugun on Friday.

Detectives were viewing CCTV footage and canvassing the area around the Foodworks convenience store on Golden Four Dr.

In a statement police said a man has entered the store and approached a 19-year-old female attendant about 2.30pm.

He allegedly lifted his jumper showing what is believed to be the top of a hand gun and made demands for cash.

The attendant complied, handing over a sum of cash and at the same time a 75-year-old local woman who was shopping screamed alerting others in the store.

The man punched the elderly woman in the face before fleeing the store.

He was last seen getting into a yellow car on Maud St, Tugun.

The elderly woman sustained an injury to her face, but the staffer was uninjured.

Police are looking for a man described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 180cm tall, in his 20s and with a solid build.

He was wearing long black pants, a black jumper, black shoes, a white baseball cap and sunglasses.

Anyone with information should phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
