Hunt for home invaders continues

TWEED police are continuing their investigation into a home invasion at Tweed Heads West on Monday morning.

Initial reports stated that three men forced their way into a Marian St home around 2am searching for a man known to them.

The three occupants at the house tried to tell the intruders that they didn't know the person they were seeking and he didn't live in the house, however, the men stormed the house regardless and damaged the property.

One of the assailants assaulted one of the occupants by hitting him in the mouth and giving the victim a swollen lip.

Once satisfied the man they were searching for didn't reside at the premises, the three men left.

Detectives and scene of crime investigators were soon on the scene and an unsuccessful search was made of the area.

Police are following up several leads which could lead to the identification of the offenders.
