Infant critically hurt by runaway lawnmower

AN INFANT run over by a lawnmower at his Biddeston home is in hospital in Brisbane.

The 12-month-old boy sustained serious injuries to his back, a fractured leg and a foot injury after the incident at a family home at Biddeston about 6pm yesterday.

The boy's family raced the injured child to meet Queensland Ambulance crews before he was taken to Toowoomba Hospital.

He was then airlifted to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital by RACQ CareFlight.

The boy is understood to have been hit by a self-propelled lawnmower.

He will undergo specialist treatment in hospital.
