Info night tonight on how to care for our dunes

ANYONE interested in taking care of the beaches has been encouraged to attend the Tugun-Bilinga Dune information night on Tuesday.

The session is a joint venture between the Tugun and Bilinga Dune Preservation Group and Griffith University's Centre for Coastal Management.

Griffith Beach Care coordinator Joel Hayes said it's important for locals to know how to take care of beaches and dunes.

"On the Gold Coast, beach care attracts between 1600 and 1800 volunteer hours a year," he said.

"That just demonstrates that it takes a lot of time and effort; the more people are involved, the better."

The information night will take place at Tugun Community Centre on Coolangatta Rd from 7-9pm DST.
