Is 'tapping' the secret to getting rid of hot flushes?

HOT FLUSHES, night sweats, mood swings, irritability, frustration,

bowel problems and sapped energy levels are just some of the symptoms women are told to look forward to in menopause.

However one Mullumbimby woman believes she has the answer to them all.

Inge Sarathulsingh will next week hold a talk on stress and how it's linked to menopause, along with giving instructions on a therapy known as Emotional Freedom Tapping.

In EFT, one "taps” on acupressure points, while speaking to your deeper, inner turmoil, to free yourself of stress and in doing so, reduce symptoms.

"Stress is the underlying reason for symptoms of menopause because permanent stress depletes our adrenalin glands and therefore they cannot balance our hormones,” Ms Sarathulsingh said.

Ms Sarathulsingh, 62, discovered the technique when she was going through menopause 10 years ago, concluding the main problem for women was that they neglected their health through selflessness.

"If she makes time for herself, looks after her health and nourishes herself, she will suffer less symptoms,” Ms Sarathulsingh said.
