Its all about the kids

CHILDREN have their whole lives to be adults, so why not have fun now?

That’s the idea behind the Rellie Bellie Kids clothing line, said owner and designer Narelle Sargent-Ritchie.

Ms Sargent-Ritchie and her sister Meryn Sargent have just opened their funky new store in Burleigh Heads.

It’s especially for kids, and what’s more, the Rellie Bellie range is almost entirely Australian sourced and made.

“Australian made is a big selling point for us,” Ms Sargent-Ritchie said.

“Even though there is international competition for cheaper prices, people want things made locally.”

Ms Sargent-Ritchie designs and creates the Rellie Bellie Kids samples and if she doesn’t sew the clothes herself, they’re made in Robina.

The range features bright colours and playful patterns that “embrace childhood”.

“With kids’ fashion it’s so much more creative and fun,” she said.

“We don’t make cut-down versions of adult clothes. Rellie Bellie Kids is all about being a kid.”

Rellie Bellie Kids not only stocks its own clothing brand, but a number of other high-profile children’s labels including Bebe and Havaianas.

The sisters opened the Burleigh Heads store three weeks ago to fit in with their own families and lifestyles.

“We were travelling to our Paddington store in Brisbane every day for two years, so we decided we wanted a change,” Ms Sargent-Ritchie said.

“Our new shop is in the perfect location.”
