Jack Carty to storm Australia

FRESH from standout sets at this year's Woodford Folk Festival and his debut album One Thousand Origami Birds being named in a slew of Best Of 2011 lists, Jack Carty is heading out again this February and March for the Sailboats and Storms National tour.

This time, strumming songs and stories off his brand new album Break Your Own Heart, due for release through Gigpiglet Recordings/Inertia Music in early April.

Last year was Jack's biggest 12 months yet, with numerous headline Australian tours, festivals and supports for the likes of Matt Corby, Alex Lloyd and Ingrid Michaelson and international adventures including a North American tour and appearances at Toronto's Canadian Music Week and Austin Texas' famous SXSW.

Break Your Own Heart marks a darker turn for the young Sydneysider, exploring themes of heartbreak, displacement, loss and learning with delicate sincerity and a dynamic range and musicality marking a stark maturation in the many miles covered since his critically-acclaimed debut.

"Jack Carty is a rare treasure. With a vocal range and clarity most recording artists would envy, this tall thin young man of 23, steps onto the stage, barefoot, with an acoustic guitar, and gently enthrals the room. There are no pre-recorded backing tracks, and he doesn't need them." - AAA Backstage.

"His vocal lines are strong and consistent and his lyrics have an intrinsic, wholesome feel. Something about the way he performs is humbling… 10/10." - The AU Review.
