Jack Evans wins best public urban landscape gong
JACK Evans Boat Harbour has been judged as the 2013 Australia's best public urban landscape project.
Stage one of the harbour was named Best Overall Project in the 2013 Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia awards which aims to recognise the innovative and functional use of concrete to enhance the public domain.
The win, which also included being named the best precinct in Australia, was announced in Sydney late last week.
Designers ASPECT were awarded the prominent award for their role in revitalising the popular recreation centre.
"The centrepiece of the design is a new, arching promenade that redefines the harbour edge and created numerous jumps off points where visitors can interact with the water," a CCAA spokesman said.
The award jury applauded the design team for overcoming the challenging site geometry.
