Jack’s back to inspire Broncos to barnstorming victory
JACK Reed celebrated his return from off-season shoulder surgery with the try of the match as Brisbane continued its perfect start to the season with a bruising 25-10 win over the Warriors at Suncorp Stadium.
The victory though may have come at a cost with towering young winger Corey Oates, who was again outstanding after his man-of-the-match effort last week, leaving the field late in the second half with a suspected left-shoulder dislocation. Oates will have scans while Warriors forward Ben Matulino may face a shoulder charge.
Playing his first game back, Reed's 32nd-minute try was a beauty. The red-haired centre beat three Warriors defenders in a solo 40-metre run to the try line, bringing the 34,000-strong crowd to their feet.
The game also produced the first scrum shot-clock penalty with Corey Parker landing the goal to finish off the 15-point win.
Brisbane scored four tries to one with the Warriors' only four-pointer coming from close range by strong hooker Issac Luke in the first half.
Brisbane 25 (Darius Boyd, Corey Oates, Jack Reed, Matt Gillett tries. Parker 4 goals. Anthony Milford field goal) bt Warriors 10 (Issac Luke try. Shaun Johnson 3 goals) at Suncorp Stadium.
