Jetski convoy roars into Tweed on fundraising mission

FINGAL had an overnight visit from the Yamaha Variety Jet Trek as 55 personal water craft make their way from Port Macquarie to Mooloolaba to raise money for children in need.

The convoy jetted in on Thursday afternoon and left on Friday morning.

Variety Children's Charity motoring events coordinator Erin Taylor said the Jet Trek was one of the charity's key annual fundraising events.

Ms Taylor said this was the 16th Jet Trek event, with hopes they will raise over $100,000.

She said entrants had to raise a minimum of $2000 per water craft prior to the event.

"The event is almost a reward for all the hard work they've put into fundraising," she said.

Ms Taylor said when they can, Variety finds children in need at their pit stops, and helps them in some way.

"The more funds we raise, the more kids we're able to help," she said.

"Out ultimate goal is for each participant to have a fantastic time on the event, and to witness where their fundraising is going."
