Jockey fights for life after fall

A JOCKEY is fighting for her life after falling from a horse during early morning training at Caulfield Racecourse.

The track rider, aged in her 20s, was found unconscious on Monday morning near the swimming pool area at the course with serious head injuries.

Emergency services rushed the Aquanita Racing rider to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne where she remains in a critical condition after being placed in an induced coma.

It is understood no one saw the incident.

Aquanita chief executive Peter Oliver told News Ltd the team wished the experienced rider a speedy recovery.

"It is very upsetting for everyone and our thoughts are with her and her family at this time," he said.

An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
