Johnny Depp drops in to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital

SICK kids at the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital had a surprise visit from a movie star on Tuesday evening.

Fresh from filming on the latest instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise on the Gold Coast, Johnny Depp flew onto the hospital roof in full Captain Jack Sparrow garb as television crews hovered in helicopters above.

He made a brief tour of the hospital, speaking to kids and staff before leaving again in a black chopper.

Nine News reported Captain Jack flew in straight from the set and stayed for more than an hour with "quite sick" children on level 11, taking a special interest in those fighting cancer.

The 52-year-old even made time to take a few selfies with the kids.
