Members wanted for 4WD fun

THE Tweed Valley Four Wheel Drive (4WD) Club has a lot planned for the year ahead, and are looking for more members to join in the fun.

Currently with 30 members, the club, which has been in existence for 15 years, gets together once a month for a meeting to discuss their twice-monthly 4WD adventures.

Terranora couple Geoff and Jo Carter have been members of the club for 10 years, with Mr Carter serving as vice-president and Mrs Carter editor of the monthly magazine.

“It’s a very social club and we’ve made a lot of friends who love four-wheel-driving like we do,” Mrs Carter said.

“We have a lot of different trips planned, from weekend trips to two-month-long adventures, and we’d love to get a few more members into the club.”

Peter Moyle, another long-time member, has taken part in a number of the club’s outings.

“We recently went out to a private property on Uki for the weekend and got to make use of the four-wheel-drive tracks there.

“Later this year we have a big tour planned to go across the desert to the Kimberleys,” Mr Moyle said.

He said that while the members enjoy four-wheel-driving, they do it safely and seek out proper tracks and authorised campsites.

“We like to have fun, but we are not hooning about,” Mr Moyle said.

“It’s definitely a family-oriented club, with our members ranging in age from their mid-20s to mid-60s,” Mr Moyle said.

The club meets on the first Wednesday night of every month at the Cudgen Leagues Club.

Anyone in the Tweed area who is interested can call Peter Moyle on 0412 656 498.
