Join in the funky festivities
GET your funky self down to the Kirra Hill Community and Cultural Centre this Saturday to celebrate the centre's first birthday.
With local artists displaying their new works and funky band the Living Room playing, it promises to be a fun and cultural event.
Friends of Kirra Hill president, Pamela Oberman said the centre's newly installed banners would be unveiled on the day.
"It promises to be a very interesting afternoon as we celebrate a year of operation," she said.
The banners are the result of the inaugural gallery opening with an exhibition called "White cockatoo."
One school of thought says the Aboriginal word "kirra" means 'gathering place', while another says it is Aboriginal for 'boomerang'.
The Kirra Hill Community and Cultural Centre Community Art Gallery was established to showcase local artistic southern gold coast talent from established, emerging and community artists.
Come along and celebrate its first birthday this Saturday, July 7 from 4pm to 6pm at Garrick Street, Coolangatta.
