Junior teams tackle titles
AFTER a successful campaign by the Group 18 Junior Rugby League under-15 and under-16 representative teams at the Country Rugby League Championships, the under-13 and 14 teams followed suit.
The Country Rugby League Cluster was held on July 2 at Port Macquarie which saw the under-13 side labelled the cluster champions with our under-14 squad finishing runners-up.
The Cluster was held between Group 18, Group 1 (Lismore to Grafton), Group 2 (Coffs Harbour to Kempsey) and Group 3 (Port Macquarie to Taree).
All four representative sides competed in a round robin carnival. Group 18’s under-13 side was undefeated on the day and the under-14s finished second behind arch rivals, Group 1.
In what was the first overnight trip for many of the players, they certainly showed their competitive spirit and are to be congratulated on their performances.
Carnival results:
Under 13: def Group 2 22-6, def Group 1 26-4, def Group 3 46-12.
Under 14: def Group 2 24-16, lost Group 1 36-0, def Group 3 34-24.
Both sides are to be held in high regard for their level of enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the carnival.
A big thank you to all the volunteers. The coaching and support staff do a fantastic job and they are to be commended for their own levels of commitment and enthusiasm.
